Laments of a Destitute Housewife — Poetry

A must read, it somehow strikes a chord in me!! A truly well written poem, that has done justice to expressing the thoughts and emotions of a Housewife, in my opinion!

A Whispered Wind

1.
Sweet Jesus, what has become of me?
This tangled mop of hair
Loss of bit, an elephant’s girth—
Even I find me so repulsive
I’ve smashed mirrors
To hide my shame

2.
This world has swallowed me
Regurgitated the most vile parts
And paraded me for all to see—
Bystanders turn their heads
Even the curious deny me

3.
Is it any wonder I seek death?
To rid myself of this pain—
A heart dipped in lead
So heavy, so heavy
And these burdens burning my soul—
I am but ashes, ashes
And now, with the wind, even less so

A poem on you…

Long neck,

Fine hair,

Fair skin,

A figure that is slim;

is all you liked..

then and now!!

Foolish I was

& Foolish I am…

to still think

the world I created is true.

2014 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 420 times in 2014. If it were a cable car, it would take about 7 trips to carry that many people.

I know that the title sounds quite  familiar, but; here I am referring particularly to the Metro railways of Kolkata and not the movie ‘Life in a Metro‘.

Life in Kolkata is dependent on Metro railway. It is, the lifeline of the city that connects it from one end to the other. No, this is not ‘The news’ I was talking about. Continue reading Life in a metro – Kolkata

A few drapes ripped and you are raped!

I know, i was out of sight and didn’t post anything on this blog for a while. However I am back and yes I am distressed reading the news these days.

Grab a news paper from the coffee table or some other corner of our house and read, you are sure to find a couple of rape, abuse and molestation cases in there.

We are  here not to discuss or debate about the society and its functioning or if it is because of patriarchy or matriarchy. Whatever it is, the basic point here is ‘is it going to ever stop?’

We really don’t have an answer for this, right? Continue reading A few drapes ripped and you are raped!

So what? You can always be Gay!!

You don’t really like the ‘skin you are in’?, you are being bullied by others who seem to be just your opposite? You are stressed up by the ways the society treats you and others, who think just like you? Are you being neglected, getting depressed and stressed by the nuances of the society. Okay, this is not a post, it is just something I thought I should share. I know that most of you already know of it and it is definitely not something that would get into the list of things that is found on other planets like say, water or ice or some type of life form. Our world is already full of life but yes happiness is something each on of us hunt for, be it consciously or unconsciously. It definitely feels awesome to find a place on earth where people are happy. Continue reading Happy Place Found on Earth

The night, when life was sucked out…

One night, I had a mental block or in my context you can simply put it as a writer’s block, that means that point of time you know when you actually don’t know that you really know something.  That was the night when I decided I should pen down my thoughts, so that I read it the next day when my brain gets back its life in order to sit back and analyze the points I make when my brain is not functioning properly. (by pio dal cin) Even if India shows the Slowest growth in a decade it still remains one of the richest Countries in the world even if is not listed in the Fifteen richest Countries in  this Forbes report.

India is celebrating its Independence Day and +Google  along with
+Google India  is joining in the party.

Who is celebrating though? A few hundred Indian Billionaires or the masses who are struggling to survive? According to This Huffington Post survey there are 25 million Indian children starving in the Country +Vic Gundotra  so what is there to celebrate really?
The Rape Cases reported here by CNN?

I think that India before celebrating should take care of its huge social problems.

We say, we are now Independent, we are free. Yes, we are; to a certain extent, but not completely. We gained freedom from the wild clutches of a few of our fellow humans, who traveled all the way from the other end of the world to make us taste dirt and shit; the best part is that we Indians with our life-size hearts and our cultural ethics that saysAtithi devo bhava‘ greeted them and let them in with all glory.
